When you move or mix the hot coal around without burning your hands long enough to clean out the ashes that are otherwise difficult to reach in the corner of the oven or grill.
This ash rake makes it easier to move and mix your hot coals around, which saves time and allows you to create or switch temperature zones on your grill while keeping them evenly lit. It nicely follows the contour of a barrel grill, and the snap-in handle allows you to quickly make a half-length when needed. It's great for spreading coals and removing ash.
